The Desert Rat Code:

Dual Sport Bikes

* Trails: Never, ever, ever ride off of the road or designated trail. Don't follow illegal ATV trails.

* Wilderness: there are places that should be untouched by machinery. When you reach the end of the road or trail, Park your bike, and hike in to the wilderness.

* Noise: A quiet bike: 80db or less

* Fire: Spark Arrestor Always

* Street Legal: of course

* No Trace: No garbage left behind. Pack out garbage that you find along the way

* Donate: Time and/or money to a New Desert Rat endorsed program in your state or local area

* STOP THE IDIOTS: Work with environmentalist, community, forest service and other groups to stop destruction of the desert by reckless recreational ATV and OHV users.

* Respect: Quiet Users of the deserts: stop (or slow to under 5 mph) when appraoching horse riders, mountain bikers, hikers.

* Local Residents: If they don't want you there...leave

* Limit speed: speed kills....mostly critters and plants

* Help: if the Forest Service, environmental, or community group needs your help give it!
